Making Memories

My grandsons are coming for their first, longer, summer visit to the island this week.  My job is to help make this time memorable.  The island will do most of the work, with its trails, beaches, ferries and wildlife.  Spontaneous picnics, toasting marshmallows at my new firebowl, rowing on Hummel Lake, riding bikes, collecting rocks, exploring the beach at low tide and enjoying the fireworks in the village will all be, I'm sure, part of the agenda.  Farm fresh, homemade meals certainly can't hurt.  Nothing will be "scheduled" - we'll just go where the days lead us, even if it's as simple as reading books together.
